Here’s the plan for this Sunday’s Tanabata Samba Matsuri in Ushigome Yanagicho. July 3rd, 2005.
We will meet at Ushigome Yanagicho Station ticket gates at 12:30pm. If you’re late, please turn left after the gates, go up and you’ll see the parade. Please call if you’re running late. Ushigome Yanagicho Station is three stops from Shinjuku-nishiguchi on the Oedo Line.
The parade starts at 1pm and festivities go on till 5pm. We must leave a little earlier in order to make it back to Kichijoji for capoeira class.
The parade will feature samba from G.R.E.S. Liberdade Samba Group. They compete every year in the Asakusa Samba Parade, and have come 2nd three times so far.

Please wear some comfortable clothes as we’ll be dancing and possibly playing some capoeira on the street.

I’ve just uploaded some videos onto the GBC JP homepage.
Check out the promo video for Grupo Bantus Capoeira, footage from Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. The samba footage is from carnaval 2003 Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro. Capoeira footage from the streets of Belo Horizonte, and the GBC academia in Savassi, BH.
The two other videos on that page now are from the Filhos Da Terra 2005 batizado, 19 June, in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan. Highlights of Caçapa and Cafune’s jogos.
You need the Flash Player 7 to view the videos. Click here to download it.

To cut a long story short:
Back in late February I sent some money to Brazil. Mestre Pintor got the money, and found a good place to buy some top-quality handmade capoeira instruments for a very reasonable price. We were really happy to receive the great news.
