Festival Mundial Bantus Capoeira 2006
Originally uploaded by Bantus Capoeira Japan.
Well, I’ve finally uploaded the photos from Cafune’s digital camera onto our flickr site. You can check out the whole album here.
The festival delivered all that is promised and more! From August 21st to 27th it was non-stop capoeira 24 hours a day.
From the moment we stepped off the plane in Belo Horizonte to the final roda at Mestre Pintor’s holiday home in Casa Branca, we trained, played, learned, ate, slept, dreamt, and shopped capoeira!
The seven bantulinos from Tokyo were Caçapa, Cafune, Mico, Quati, Lanterna, Coruja, and Cotonete. Yoshiko, Noriko, and Hiroshi received their new nicknames at their batizado in Brazil!

Friday 27th October 2006

You better stay home this Friday night, because you’re in for a special treat!
Caçapa from Grupo Bantus Capoeira Japão and Fabio from Nação Capoeira will be making their Japanese Internet TV debut on casTVKakutoogi Navi. A live streaming internet TV service provided by Tepco Hikari Fibre ISP.
The two capoeira instructors have the terrible task of instructing two beautiful Japanese ‘idol‘ the basics of capoeira live on TV! It will be a no takes, no rehearsals, real “Fly by the seat of your pants” capoeira class in action!
Beijaflor from Nação Capoeira will be on hand to translate, but anything could happen, so that’s the real exciting part.

Nudist Beach Party (2) was a great success. Congratulations to everyone who played, and thanks to everyone else for coming. We hope you enjoyed yourselves.
Cafune, Mico, Quati, Lanterna, Coruja, Cotonete, Pipoca, Guarana, Kiyoko, Fumi, Greg, Yukari, and Seina (& Kirin) from GBC partied, danced, and drank, all night, and somewhere in the middle there was an awesome capoeira show.
Thanks to Frank for organizing the event, and Fabio & Nação Capoeira for the hard work and friendship.
Let’s do it all again in December!!!

Sunday December 10th 2006

We’ve been invited to Associação Nagoas Capoeira’s 8th Batizado e Troca de Cordas in Shizuoka!
Here’s 3 good reasons why you should go to this batizado:
1. Take part in Professor Japão’s batizado. Professor Japão is one of the smoothest capoeiristas I’ve seen in Japan!
2. Escape the big smoke of Tokyo, check out Mt. Fuji and try some ocha.
3. Catch up with Aizinha (Ai-chan)! She tells us she’s been practicing hard for the samba de roda.
Date: Sunday 10th December 2006.
Location: Twin Messe Shizuoka, Shizuoka Ken Shizuoka Shi Suruga Ku Magarikame 3-1-10.
Dress: White Bantus Capoeira uniform.
How to get there: TBA.

If you don’t already have your own blog, then you probably have at least bookmarked some favourite blogs, or at the very least, heard the word blog a million times by now.
A blog is like an online diary, or journal. more here (Nihongo)
But the real power of the blog lies in RSS (Nihongo) or “Really Simple Syndication” to push news directly to an application on the reader’s computer.
I’ve been using Mozilla Firefox (Japan) ever since a friend recommended me to check it out. It even has this thing called “Live Bookmarks” (Ninhongo) that automatically downloads the latest news from your favourite blog and lists it in your bookmarks menu everytime you open your Web browser.
Another cool thing about blogs is you can leave a comment just about anywhere, and let other people know what you’re thinking.
As far as we know, this is the most updated capoeira blog on the internet, and not only can you keep up-to-date with Upcoming Events, you can also Live Bookmark our flickr photos and keep up to date with the schedule if you’re using our Google Calendar!
