Hey everyone, here’s the update I’ve been meaning to write for while. We’ve been super busy in October and November, and I’ve been running around like mad trying to promote Bantus as much as possible.
In September we got back from Brazil and then had the Mishop World Festival, events in October included the Mitaka Sports Festival, Nudist Beach (2), and the Casty live internet TV appearance. Our shows this month include the Soshigaya Art Festival, Bem Brasil 12, B’day Beats, the First Nijino Kai, and the Musashino FM Cultural Festival. And don’t forget our 2nd Anniversary and Bonenkai Party.
I was also lucky enough to appear in the Metropolis Magazine on November 10th, and play berimbau on their podcast.
Speaking of media appearances, we recently received in the post a DVD and a video cassette from our Singapore and Japanese TV crew shoots back in July and August, the clips will be on this blog shortly. The stories turned out really well, and we were so happy with the results!
Finally, this blog got a total make-over and is now running just the way I hoped.

Schedule Update
Well, it’s almost our 2nd birthday and looking back it’s easy to see we’ve come a long way. In fact, this blog documents every single event we’ve done so far so spend a few hours looking around, why don’t you!? Things haven’t always run smoothly, but that’s to be expected of any capoeira group, especially one in our circumstances.
So it’s time to make a few minor changes to the schedule, we hope you can dig it.
Starting in December
First Tuesday of the Month Capoeira Angola Class.
Learn the basics of this beautiful style of capoeira.
First Sunday of the Month Bantus Capoeira Special Roda.
3pm-4:30pm: Warm-up and free training. You’ll have the chance to practice all those moves you’ve been learning throughout the previous month, plus work on advanced moves and acro on our mats. You can also practice music, singing and dancing. Use this time to the fullest by asking your instructors for personalized tips.
4:30pm-5:30pm: Roda of the month. A full roda with complete bateria (3 berimbaus, atabaque, and pandeiro) and jam-packed with axé and excitement.
Special notes: At this class you’ll have the chance to purchase official Bantus Capoeira T-shirts and Pants and other official merchandise needed to play, train, and join in our capoeira shows. So please save a spare bit of cash because you’ll need to pay your monthly fee also.
We encourage you to bring your friends to this class for their first taste of Bantus capoeira. It’s free to watch.
Membership and Class Fees
In other news; well you’ve been asking for it, so here it is!

You can use those 10 credits any way you want. This means you can get the same members discount as the monthly fees but with the ultimate flexibility to suit your ever-changing schedules.
