Hanami 2007 & Roda do Parque

It’s that time of year again! Hanami Time! The sakura are popping, the sun is shinning, the birds are chirping, and the rodas are just about to heat up!
Let’s Hanami!
Let’s Capoeira!
Bring your berimbaus and pandeiros, bring your capoeira pants and t-shirts, and bring your axé! We’ll be spending the day in Tokyo’s best kept secret and most beautiful park for playing capoeira. Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen. There’ll be capoeira acro training, rodas, samba, and lots of fun! Bring your guitars, frisbees, soccer balls and whatever else you want. It might get a little chilly in the afternoon, so bring some warm clothes too.
Tell your friends and family, bring your co-workers and your neighbours, you can even bring your pets this time!

In the case of heavy rain (there’s a chance it may) we’ll have to go to Plan B. Stay tuned for Plan B…
After Showa Koen closes, we’ll head over to Inokashira Koen to continue the sakura festivities and enjoy the rest of the night in our favourite local park.
Date: Sunday April 1st 2007.
Time: The park is open 9.30am-5pm. You’re welcome to arrive earlier, but let’s meet around 12 midday at the Open Field/みんなの原っぱ.
Location: Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen.
Access: Nishi Tachikawa Sta. (JR Ome Line), one stop from Tachikawa Sta. (JR Chuo Line).
Cost: Park entry fee: Adults (15+) 400 yen, Children (6-15) 80 yen.
Food & Drink: Bring your own lunch and drinks and if you want to share, bring a little something for everyone.
NO SMOKING or LITTERING
I have never been to Showa Koen at this time of year, so I don’t know how busy it’s going to be. Last time we virtually had the whole Open Field to ourselves, I don’t think we’re going to be so lucky this time.
