The 27th Asakusa Samba Carnival
Grupo Bantus Capoeira Japao has the pleasure to be parading in the 27th Asakusa Samba Carnival this Saturday with G.R.E.S. Imperio do Samba! Other participating capoeira groups include Nação Capoeira, Marana, and Capoeira Nação.

An estimated half a million people will flock to the Asakusa district of Tokyo’s Taito-ku on Saturday for the 27th Asakusa Samba Carnival. Crowds will be packed along Kaminarimon Dori, the district’s main street, to watch about 4,500 dancers from 33 groups put on a samba parade. Dancers come mostly from Japan and Brazil. The parade is the main event of the Asakusa Samba Carnival, which also includes such events as a special samba show and the chance to take photos with Brazilian samba dancers. The Asakusa Samba Carnival, held annually on the last Saturday in August, has a history dating back to 1980.
