Happy New Schedule
Starting from Monday January 14th we’ll have a brand new schedule. I believe the new schedule is our best yet, allowing our members the greatest opportunity to improve their capoeira with GBCJ. During the week we’ll have two training days, Monday and Wednesday starting at 7.30pm and finishing around 8.45pm. Doors open at 7pm giving you enough time to change and get ready for class. The weekends will be changing too. Saturday class will take place during the day and has been extended. Sunday will be open to special capoeira events, special training, rodas, parties, and meetings.
Keep reading to learn more about our new schedule and upcoming events.
Monday’s class will be at Event Hall Musashino just five minutes from Kichijoji Station. Many of you will be familiar with Event Hall as we’ve been there for almost two years. However, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to learn from now on we’ll be using the much bigger and better 2nd floor studio! That’s great news for everyone.
Wednesday’s class will be at Space 38. Some of the older students will remember this studio from way back in 2006 when we had a couple of very memorable Sunday open rodas. Space 38 is a very nice studio with some great facilities, and even closer to Kichijoji Station. About three minutes walk!
Please make the most of classes on Monday and Wednesday. Remember, the quickest way to improve in all aspects of capoeira is to make sure you come to class as much as possible. These two new GBCJ weekday classes are a great opportunity so don’t miss out!
Saturday’s class. Our weekend has changed also! Saturday night class at Event Hall (3F) has been cancelled and moved to a new time slot and a different venue most of you will be familiar with. Mitaka Dai San Chu Gakkou was our very first training location and it still serves us well. We all know it’s a bit of a walk from Kichijoji Station, but quite a scenic one through Inokashira Park. And being in the middle of the day, we’re sure it won’t be too much of an inconvenience to anyone. Now you’ll have your Saturday nights to have fun with your friends or family, go shopping in Kichijoji, or spend some time in the park.
The first thing you’ll notice is the extended time of this class. We’ve gone from a two hour class to a four hour class! The schedule will be loosely based on the following format. Things could change from week to week.
12.30pm: Doors open. You’re welcome to change clothes, pay for class, and catch up with your friends.
1.00pm: Music, singing, and instruments. One area where everyone needs to improve is the music side of capoeira. Remember, NO MUSIC, NO LIFE!
2.30pm: Capoeira class. We’ve had many great classes at San Chu, and I’m sure we’re going to have many more. San Chu (2F) offers a bigger and better space than Event Hall (3F).
4.30pm: Roda. Let’s finish every Saturday class with a nice big roda full of the Bantus axé!
I know a few of you are missing the Sunday classes. With Old Man Winter’s cold hand putting a freeze over Tokyo we decided to cancel Sunday class for the time being. We’re hoping as soon as the weather starts to get warmer Sunday will see a whole new bunch of special capoeira events, special training, rodas, parties, and meetings. In the meantime, you have three great chances every week to keep training and get ready for a year full of awesome rodas, batizados, overseas Bantus trips, special visiting guests, shows, workshops, and even more great transformation in your life!
