Capoeira Camp with Canguru

Shake off the winter blues
and get ready for a weekend full of capoeira, samba, and unforgettable fun with special guest Instrutor Canguru!
Date: Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, March, 2008
Time: Check-in: 15:00 Check-out 10.00
Location: BumB Tokyo Bay Sports and Culture Center, Yumenoshima
Cost: Budget around 6000-8000yen including accommodation and food. We will know closer to the date.

The founder of Grupo Bantus Capoeira Australia, Tom Foss (Instrutor Canguru) will be in Tokyo for some capoeira workshops. The weekend will be filled with workshops of capoeira, capoeira culture, including samba and instrument making, and of course a roda! We’ll be having a BBQ, and enjoying the other facilities on Dream Island.

We have space for 20 people in total to sleep over, and of course anyone is welcome to join just the workshops or roda. GBCJ Members and non-members are welcome. We’ll have more details soon.

Canguru started GBC Australia way back in 1997, and since then has continued on his capoeira path under the guidance of Mestre Pintor. Canguru received his yellow/blue cord in Belo Horizonte, Brazil at the GBC 15th Anniversary Festival in August 2006. Canguru is famous for his infectious personality, positive attitude and dedication to promoting the Brazilian culture in Australia and around the world. He currently leads “Sambalicious”, Australia’s hottest Brazilian party band, and is a resident DJ in one of Perth’s largest nightclubs.
