2008 Hanami Roda

Spring has sprung! Last week we experienced a warm 20 degrees Spring day, the flowers are starting to bloom, and old man winter is packing his bags.
You know what that means!?
Always a favourite annual GBCJ event, the Bantus Hanami has been heaps of fun in the past, and this year won’t disapoint. Previous years we’ve held the Hanami in Inokashira Koen. Last year we moved to Showa Kinen Koen and started a new tradition. The Open Field (Mina no Harappa) is an awesome field flanked by beautiful cherry blossom trees, carpeted with lush green grass, and features a huge oak tree in the centre. A rare treat to be found in Tokyo.

Date: Sunday, March 30th or April 6th or 13th.
Depending on weather conditions leading up to and during Sakura Season, the date may change. Stay tuned for more info. Or maybe we’ll have more than one Hanami!
Time: The park is open 9.30am-5pm. You’re welcome to arrive earlier, but let’s meet around 12 midday at the Open Field/みんなの原っぱ.
Location: Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen
Cost: Park entry fee: Adults (15+) 400 yen, Children (6-15) 80 yen.
Access: Nishi Tachikawa Sta. (JR Ome Line), one stop from Tachikawa Sta. (JR Chuo Line)
Bring your own lunch and drinks and if you want to share, bring a little something for everyone.
Bring your berimbaus and pandeiros, bring your capoeira pants and t-shirts, and bring your axé! Bring your guitars, frisbees, soccer balls and whatever else you want. It might get a little chilly in the afternoon, so bring some warm clothes too.
ALL WELCOME
No Smoking or Littering
