Don’t miss this chance to take part in the Bantus Japan Summer Capoeira Camp 2008! Everyone is invited to come along to enjoy this beautiful spot in the gorgeous Yamanashi, just a couple hours out of Tokyo. This is the perfect opportunity to get out of the big smoke of Tokyo and enjoy the fresh air!

We’ll be doing lots of capoeira throughout the day in our own mini-gymnasium, and then relaxing our tired muscles in our own private onsens! Activities include capoeira workshops in music, instruments, and dance, rodas of angola and regional, samba and forró, watching Bantus capoeira videos, Karaoke competition, barbecue, nature walks and sightseeing, cooking and enjoying great food and good times with your fellow capoeiristas!

What more could you ask for?

Date: Saturday and Sunday June 28th-29th.

Time: Meeting at Shinjuku. Bus leaves early morning.

Location: Neo Oriental Resort, Yatsugatake Plateau, Yamanashi Prefecture, North Akanashi City.

Cost: 11,000yen. Includes two days, one night. Use of all facilities including mini-gymnasium and barbecue, capoeira workshops, rodas, and dance party and bus to the venue. Food will be extra.

So come on down to Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen - Midori no Bunka (Green Culture) Center and let’s enjoy a day of fresh air, green grass, and capoeira. After the roda we’ll go out for dinner, so bring your “My Hashi”!

Bantus Capoeira Indonesia

A big Bantus Capoeira axé welcome to the latest addition to our capoeira family in Indonesia.

Instrutor Grão is currently taking care of classes over in Jakarta after Instructor Andrew joined up with Bantus earlier this year. We look forward to meeting GBCI at the World Meet Bantus in November and wish Grão, Andrew and all their students the best of luck and great success. We hope to see some great capoeiristas coming out of Jakarta soon!

Workshops with Chacal

Chacal, student of Professor Gringo (GBC Australia) will be in Tokyo for a week and will be conducting a few workshops at GBCJ. Some of you may remember Chacal from his visit last year with Prof. Gringo and Shireen in July, or from the World Meet Bantus in Perth in September 2008. It’s a pleasure to have Chacal staying with us in Tokyo and it’s a great opportunity for GBCJ members to meet another Bantus capoeirista from Australia.

May Schedule

May Schedule

May’s Schedule has been updated. Please pay close attention to when and where classes will take place.

We will be using Yon Sho (4Sho) for the very first time on Wednesday, May 7th. Closest station is JR Kichijoji. Directions and Google Map coming soon.

Saturday classes will start at 3pm and finish around 5.45pm from April 26th.

We will be using Go Sho (5Sho) on Saturday, May 3rd, 10th, and 24th. Closest station is Keio Inokashirakoen, or JR Kichijoji.

We’ll be at San Chu (3Chu 2F) on Saturday, May 17th, and 31st.
