Capoeira Performance

Grupo Bantus Capoeira Japan is proud to be part of the Amnesty International Film Festival 2009 coming up soon in January, 2009.

GBCJ will be performing on stage at the Yakult Hall before the presentation of the Italian documentary film “L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio”. A film about breaking down the barriers of race and class in Italy. A film about one man’s dream to bring together a group of musicians from diverse backgrounds to save a cultural icon, and create a communication on a new way to live life.

Location: Yakult Hall 2F, Shinbashi Station, Yamanote Line/Ginza Line/Toei Asakusa Line

The awesome Deanne (see video above) of Hooplovers Tokyo has invited GBCJ to participate in their special 4 hour hoopdance collaborative workshop.

GBCJ members will receive the HOOPLOVERs discounted members price of 5000 yen for the 4 hour workshop.
Hoops, snacks, equipment, guidance, teachings, music, and drinks are included in that price. Non-members 6000yen.

Talking about the non-profit and charity work of GBC Japan, the article mentions our guest instructor from Brazil, Lula and his capoeira work within the favelas of Belo Horizonte. The article features the stunning photography of freelance Tokyo photographer, Benjamin Parks.

According to the wikipedia it’s time to “forget the woes and troubles of the past year, by consumption of large amounts of alcohol”!

Last year's partyOur fourth and biggest year so far is sure to go off with a bang!

This year Instrutor Lula will be joining us for our traditional end of year party. He’s here to help us celebrate a successful year, our 2nd Batizado and Capoeira Festival, and looking to 2009 with great expectations.

Time: 7.00pm – 9.00pm. Doors open 6.45pm

Location: Noodle chafe&Bar, Kichijoji

Dress: Brazilian flag colours: Green, Yellow, and Blue (and street roda shoes)

Cost: 3000yen. All-you-can-drink, set menu
