Spring is here! The weather is getting warmer, the sun is staying up longer, the flowers are blooming, and it’s Hanami Time! As mentioned in this previous post, this Sunday, March 29th we are planning to join the Asagaya Cafe Hanami Party in Zenpukuji Ryokuchi Koen.

Here are the details:

Date: Sunday 29th, March, 2009

Time: 1pm-Sunset

Location: Zenpukuji Ryokuchi Koen. Check this handmade map

Access: About 20 minutes walk from Asagaya Station

Cost: 2500yen includes All-You-Can-Drink & Eat (Alcohol and Softdrink)

Clothes: There might be a bit of capoeira and dancing going on, so bring some park roda clothes, and capoeira instruments

After the Hanami Party we’ll be heading back to Asagaya for the Antaru Cafe 8 March Live Performance.

Hanami Part 2

For those of you who can’t make it this Sunday to “Hanami Part 1″, we have good news for you! Hanami Part 2 will take place the following Sunday at Tokyo’s best park, Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen!

Date: Sunday 5th, April, 2009

Time: The park is open 9.30am-5pm. You’re welcome to arrive earlier, but let’s meet around 12 midday at the Open Field/みんなの原っぱ.

Location: Tachikawa Showa Kinen Koen

Cost: Park entry fee: Adults (15+) 400 yen, Children (6-15) 80 yen.

Access: Nishi Tachikawa Sta. (JR Ome Line), one stop from Tachikawa Sta. (JR Chuo Line)

Bring your own lunch and drinks and if you want to share, bring a little something for everyone.

Bring your berimbaus and pandeiros, bring your capoeira pants and t-shirts, and bring your axé! Bring your guitars, frisbees, soccer balls and whatever else you want. It might get a little chilly in the afternoon, so bring some warm clothes too.

Video: Opening Ceremony: 2nd Batizado e Troca de Cordas

Special international guests Mestre Pintor (Brazil), Graduado Claudinho (Singapore/Brazil), Grauado Rafael (Malaysia/Brazil), Instrutor Grão (Australia/Brazil), & Instrutor Lula (Brazil) perform before the Japanese Drum troupe in the opening ceremony of the 2nd Batizado of Bantus Capoeira Japan.

This performance was organised to celebrate 100 years of exchange between Japan and Brazil in the year 2008. The performance took place in Mitaka Yon Sho Gakkou Elementary School in Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan on Sunday November 2nd, 2008.

The performance is a celebration of the diversity and power of the traditional Afro-Brazilian instrument the “berimbau” played my Mestre Pintor, Japanese drumming, and the dynamic and acrobatic movements of capoeira performed by instructors from Bantus Capoeira.
